My husband was just diagnosed with low grade leiomyosarcoma in the hip. We are very confused at this time. We don't understand that if it is a soft tissue disease, why is it in the bone? Our oncologist has scheduled Fred to go to the radiologist. He said chemo would not help it. In May he had his prostate out because of prostate cancer and all the tests proved clear. Then in January we discovered this sarcoma in a biopsy we had taken when he broke his femer bone. We are scheduled to see the oncologist for the second time as soon as all the results have come in. It seems there is conflicting information regarding the colon. The PET scan revealed a 9 SUV rating, but the CAT scan has not confirmed this. So he is scheduled for a colonoscopy also. We will have many questions on our next visit to the oncologist. It seems your sister and Fred have the same hip problem. Since records indicate that leiomyosarcoma is rare and only 4 out of a million have this, I feel we are blessed to know two special people. They will need our help and I hope you keep us informed as I will do also.

Did you contact the appropriate surgical department at Sloan? I believe they still see the most cases than anywhere else in the world today.
